Wonderful job Stephen! The reflections here are as always superb. Sadly it is all too true. The abuse she has suffered at our hands will soon be irreversible. We can only pray that our children and there's will be smarter than we have been. BJ

Hell, if the US, China, and Japan were the only ones signed up, everybody else could quit.

"I would like to see more countries sign up for the Kyoto treaty. 2 major exceptions being United States and Australia." I didn't mention China/India in my previous post as they have ratified the protocol where as the United States and Australia have decided not too. @ jangled : "countries, such as Japan or the Netherlands for example, with highly efficient, low GHG polluting industries..." Are Japan that bad?

@ jzangled & turner: Thanks for clarification comments. Note that ratification does not necessarily mean they're non polluting; another very troubling ongoing eco-event is the Amazon Forest clearing, especially the 'controlled' burns. BTW, I found the DVD of Al Gore's documentary on Global Warming very well put together & informative.
