Description

I spotted this Egyptian just sitting and watching the tourists go by at one of the many temples we visited in Egypt. I have no idea what his real name was, but I thought Mohamed suited him!!

I read someplace that Mohammed (and it's slight variations) is the most common male name on planet Earth. Excellent portrait of this man of the desert.

You can tell he's spent a lot of time in the sun--is that a wedding ring or is that not an Egyptian custom? He doesn't look like an office worker but he doesn't look poor either, even with the sandals. Too bad you couldn't have interviewed him as well;-)

I agree with your spelling Eileen!! First I like that shot a lot, its really well composed and it has some nice lighting/contrast and tones! Now about the spelling and the Mohamed.. Your is right!! "Mohammed or Mohammad" are totally pre-made names from the far east like India, Pakistan areas! Now about that is a wedding dress or Egyptian custom! I am afraid that i won't agree! The people who dresses like this specially near the pyramids, temples or such touristic places are from the south a place called (SA'AEED). These people lives in the mountains tho! And thats how they dress over there just like in the villages! I bet you were there and know it your self, sigh! Now tell me, you visited Africa, now north Africa/Egypt... Where are you from dear! :D And when was that shot! Thank you so much for sharing your talent and hope to see some more Egyptian shots ;) JOE
