Description

This is one of my more sombre experiences I captured: A dam I spend much of my time at, which has dried up during the drought. To see the fish die was a heart breaking experience and therefore this photo has special meaning for me. The dam has since been stocked with fish again and new life is everywhere to be seen.
I dedicate this to my niece who was murdered, one of the main reasons for my absence lately. For those interested to read about the battle to have her death investigated, you can read here.
So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell, blue skies from pain. Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail? A smile from a veil? Pink Floyd - Wish you were here
I hope you all had a good weekend.
Thank you for all the messages and mail I received recently, I love you all.

Wonderful composition, Piet--and such a horrible thing to have happen in your family. I hope you all can find someone who will help you catch this horrible murderer! I'm sure that given the distance even an attorney here in the US would be of no help, but hopefully someone there in SA will see this and step up to the plate in the name of justice. You're in my thoughts and prayers, dear friend!

Really have missed you, my friend. Extremely saddened by the news of your niece. Something, unfortunately, that is most common in my country every day. The photo is a poignant image in reflection of your feelings.

Ciao Piet, I join my thought to the one's of Magali, we have speak about you several times last weeks together, and we where preoccupated for you and your family. A tragic and marvelous shot, and a touching thought for Lizel. Life is sometimes so cruel, but in each desert, there's always a flower who grow up, even in terrible conditions... I'll write you in private ;o)))) Hugs my friend, I think to you Nathalie

a beautiful, symbolic dedication... what an enormous emotional shock for you and your family, my sympathy to you for your sorrow. this article is very disturbing..... such brutality, seemingly, going unpunished and not properly investigated... hopefully you will recieve justice from the law to solve this terrible crime and the mystery that surrounds it.....
