Description

I didn't have any idea what I should call the other flowers I've got pictures of since I have no idea just what type they are. So I told Tamela and she suggested all these great alliterative names for me. But they weren't for colors I had flowers of....well I might have one, but most I didn't. So anyway I figured I'd try my hand at that anyway and this title is what came out. :) We saw this at the Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden just north of Hilo. It's really beautiful there and well worth a visit if you're ever in the neighborhood. www.hawaiigarden.com Wonder if I get a comission. LOL :D Thanks for looking and thanks for the idea Tamela. Great depth and a nice opportune shot! If I may offer this bit of advice, knowing that these shots were just after you got the new camera; If you used the flash in this image, as it appears; try a few shots without- but slow down the shutter speed. From the specs on your camera, it has some pretty amazing image stabilization technology- it should be able to handle a moderately slow shutter while handheld minimizing blurriness. Not to mention, it also looks like it has full manual control and behaves much like a pro SLR, minus the ability to switch out lenses. If the lighting in this image is not from your flash, then you may want to speed up the shutter to allow less light exposure. It is a tad harsh using the auto settings, and a faster shutter would yield softer light, showing more detail rather than light levels peaking out at 100% specular white areas.

WOW For Me!!! John, you are the sweetest!! You know the idea just came off the top of my head. LOL To dazzle it up a bit. ;o) The picture quality is actually perfect. No lighting needs changed, shutter speed looks perfect as well, & the quality is TOPS. You have caught the actual realism in the plant & flower itself & added some DOF into it too. There is not much DOF but there is some & it looks fantastic. Many people do not realize taking photos in Hawaii is not that simple. The glare of the sun firstly can make it quite difficult. Most people do not have cams good enough to capture photos such as this!! IMHO, this is a perfect shot. I do pro photography too so I'm not a novice or newbie. Thank you so very much for this, John. You really made my day & picked up my spirits with the issues at hand!! You are a class number 1 friend!!! ;o) BIG HUGZ! Tamela
