A 'griend' is some sort of arable land, used for growing wood.. wood was and still is harvested for different purposes such as for making tools like hammers...

I must be missing something...growing wood. Isn't that growing trees and isn't growing trees a tree farm? We still have tree farms and harvest some older forests here - selectively of course, replanting as we go. We use the wood for EVERYTHING that is not made of plastic - LOL! Interesting shot here... very good.
