OMG! SSS, BLENDER, AWESOMENESS!
finally able to finish this image because of sss.
I'll do a larger higher quality render eventualy.
my spoonheaded man didn't look quite as good with sss and took too long to render (he still needs a bumpmap, which i am not going to do. i hate uv maps.)

Great work, so is this using node based sss, or did you use the indigo 0.7 beta with sss?

its using blender's sss. no nodes actualy- its now in the material settings. check it out on blenderartists.com
