Dissociative identity disorder (DID) is described in the DSM IV as a psychiatric condition where an individual exhibits two or more distinct identities or personalities, each with its own pattern of perceiving and interacting with the environment. At least two of these personalities are considered to routinely take control of the individual's behavior. There is also some associated memory loss which is beyond normal forgetfulness. This memory loss is often referred to as "losing time" or short-term amnesia. The symptoms must occur independently of substance abuse, or a more general medical condition in order to be diagnosed as DID.
Studies among mental health professionals show widespread skepticism that this diagnosis represents a mental disorder instead of a culturally-based and therapist-caused delusion. However, various experienced psychiatrists report having encountered a number of cases that appear to them to confirm the existence of this condition.

It's hard enough just being one personality, I would have to suffer from multiple! Must be a nightmare.
