Description

My grandfather had this Bird of Paradise plant all over his front yard. When I think back, he had only flowers and plants. No grass lawn. Aloha and thank you for viewing

Your grandfather sounds like a smart man. Flowers bring more pleasure without the hassle of caring for grass. Beautiful shot, Errol. I love these.

Beautiful shot of it! Think I've got one floating around somewhere as well, but I don't think it came out this well. Magnificent!

Simply marvelous! I learned too late that there are two varieties of Bird of Paradise...one is grown for the giant foliage in all its splender, and the other, smaller in leaf is grown for the blooms. I wanted these flowers so badly I ran out and bought a plant from my nursery and it turned out I got the foliage type. Four years now and no blooms but I have a gorgeous bunch of leaves! :-)

these plants spread through the garden like weeds if you are not careful, but they are so pretty..did you know that they are part of the banana tree family?

Beautiful compo of one of my favorie flowers! Nice contrast against the black background. They're grown all over the place around here: in front of homes, industrial parks, on the dividers that run up the middle of the streets, etc.
