Description

This peace of wood my uncle gave to my husband in 1972. He saw it stand in his garage and asked what it was. "Oh! this is a peace of the wrack of "Prinds Christian Frederik". A war ship that lost the battle agains the englishmen, I had an old friend, a fisherman, that got it in his fishing net, just where the Prinds Christian Frederik sunk at March the 23th 1808. He gave it to me in about 1920". My uncle said. "Do you want it?", he asked.. and he gave it to my husband. (It is 85 cm long). All the dead from the battle, which were washed into the cost, are burried on the little grave yard up to the Red Church, I uploaded the other day, where also my own fathers family and him self are burried. Here is a link to more information, if any of you are interested. http://www.navalhistory.dk/English/History/1801_1814/SjOdde1808.htm Thanks for your visit and for comments to yesterdays Brass Item :) Oh yes, here it was a wonderful summer weather all week end and it still is. :))) Today I am trying to paint with acryllic on canvas after the little drawing, that I gave color in PSP and a filter and printed out. :))) I have so many ideas, that I must try to make some of them alive. LOL I hope you didnt fall to sleep before you read it all. ;) Have a wonderful day.

What a fascinating story! History brings a place to life for me. I love the irridescent quality of the wood, and the subtle colors. Thanks for sharing this!
