BIOFormer ComputerVision, Cadam, and ProEngineer jockey, can not afford the licenses, so, err, well here I am now!
Favorite sayings:
Old as dirt, but with a fresh washed spirit and a mind that does not know the difference.
My bicycle is slower than yours.
If you had left when you first got here, you would be there by now.
I would not render with me either if I was you.
Keep your wheels rubber side down.
After toothpaste, everything else is just altered slight. ( UltraBright anyone? )
Nature bats last.
Tuffest things I have ever done:
Long's Peak, 1998 Ride the Rockies, with bronchitis.
Wolf Creak pass 1991 with bike trunk full of rocks.
I like Rederosity because:
I can see great art and sometimes tips on how it was done.
Lots of creativity and talent on display
I can share my efforts and get upbeat, helpful comments, warn fuzzies, and real suggestions on how to do better.
I can lend my eyes and mind two others, critically view their work, and make suggestions which may enable them to progress even further along a talent and skill path which seems to be without bounds.
Did I mention all the creativity and talent?
I want it all, your art, your comments, and your respect darn it!

Looks like you're making good progress with this. I love using reflections, can't wait to see this progres.

Great work! Lovely colors. Only wish the picture was bigger so could see more of it.

Looks like povray is closer to what you are looking for. I wish we could see the full size pictures. ;) Not necessarily bigger, just the whole glass rather than half. The Daz image got the transparency and some refraction, but seems lacking in reflection, and glass "shine". But don't ask me how to do that, lol. Have you tried that side view in povray? I think you're doing great - keep working on it, if you have the patience. I know I'd give up after any render over 10 minutes, lol, so I really admire your perseverance!

Interesting experiment and great dedication!!!

Did you model that glass Mike? Bravo! Maybe change the material to a lighter source. Hope you succeed buddy!

(Would you believe I am trying to make art for the cellphone and Ipod users?) Opps, I somehow uploaded the thumbnail twice, funny I though it previewed full size fine right after the original upload. Anyway, the image should be just a wee bit larger now after a quick re-upload of the main render . . . I had to smile when I was told, "Well of course this does not look as good as the Janiss art photograph, you use a short fat water glass!" LOL ;-)

Great work! I haven't done much with glass so I would be no help there. But there is a great howto in the forums at DAZ about reflections/mirrors. I know that helped me alot. Yes, it does take a looooong to render them! :o))))

This is excellent work-your textures are amazing

I saw Janiss photos and I know nothing of Daz stuff. Just bryce stuff. In bryce I would use a water texture just to use what happens. and put a spot light shineing thought it.[I would turn off the sun too in bryce] may work in Daz too I do not know. But what I see you doing is good; just need to be played with some more to get the reflections and lights too
