Description

I want to thank seraph135 and rkamil for thier suggestions. I think they made all the difference in this image. This is basically a render experiment to see if I could mix the cg in a real shot convincingly. The model is not mine I downloaded it from somewhere and there is not readme or anything to credit the author. The image was rendered in Max 4 with Vray using 1 omni light. I kinda "faked" the GI lighting using an HDRI sphereical image and some of the HDRI techinques I've been reading about..I need to actually buy the full version of Vray to be able to do true HDRI. Now I'm gonna try and use this thechinque to light some of my models and see what happens. Let me know what you think. Did I get it close or is it still way off?

looks very layered. IMO it still doesnt look quite right in the scene. I think it might be the lighting on the object is a little too bright, and the POV is kind of odd.

I think the perspective is still a little off. Try putting a ground plane in. If you look at it in a wireframe viewport with the background on, you may be able to match it better. The lighting is good and the textures are nice too. You could maybe add a small ammount of noise in post to give it a more photographed look.

the lense angle used in the photo looks much wider than the one on your model. Plus the light in the photo Is much warmer and there is much more contast in the photo. and the photo look blurred rather than out of focus esp b/c the entire object is sharp. I'd do a full raytrace, with a simualated enviornment. But thats just me. good work though. its gettin there.

guess the guys above are right... i vote for more light...u still think of the sun as an omni...but the light from the sun is considered direct (neglectable in mathmatic calulations....)blablalbal i'm getting boring, sry....just start with lights all around the model...and not too musch shadow-strength on it..... SO more light from all the sides...and some extra at the suns direction || and there should be a shadow in the Down-Left corner at this angle....||| im done being an arse...it looks much better than the last, and it a dirty job to do...good luck
