John I'm gonna be very honest here - 1st what I like about the image: The light is stunning, like a single ray shooting down onto the only this worthy. And your DOF and focus are great. 2nd what I don't like: The image is in need of a crop the centering of the flower has left the image static and lifeless. I think if you were to crop off the left and have the flower facing into the right it would create a sense of life and forward movement. Also seeing as the light is so fantastic i think a bit of smoke into the background behind the flower would show off the rays and create a greater emotion to the image. the smoke would also help with the negative space above the flower. Just my thoughts hope they help.
