Description

Good Thursday to ya. Well we didn't stay at the Columbia Gorge Hotel, we stayed next door at the Vagabond Lodge, it fit our pocketbooks better lol. But I did sneak over to take all the pictures of the beautiful grounds hehe. Any ways, the morning we were leaving I thought we would go over to the Hotel for breakfast, after all I had seen something about a "famous farm breakfast". We were seated in a gorgeous dining room over looking the Columbia River. Our "spooky" waitress, whom look like she had a ton of makeup that she had slept in, arrive and started telling us all about the breakfast. A glorious fruit platter, with mangos, and papaya, kiwi, strawberries ect. Then she tolds us we would get a apple fritter dusted in cinnimon suger, then grannies baked apple came next. My husband looked at me at this point and said "I'm not really hungry. All I want is two eggs and some sausage".lol. But she then brought a bowl of oatmeal to go with the wonderful berries and cream that was on the table. Then came a biscuit with wild honey, that she poured from a spoon held high to the ceiling to represent the falls the Hotel sets above. Then came the choice of entree. My husband in the meantime had only eaten the fritter, looks at me again and says 'I wish I was hungry". As she rattled off all the entree items my husband looked at her and order his 2 eggs ect. She gave him a look to kill. For it wasn't on the list.lol I had the, smoke salmon, scrambled eggs on a croissant. Then after all that she came back to see if we wanted our pancake. We politely declined. Then came the check...lol And the title says it all. But it's free if you'er a guest. But it was a nice, one time experiece.hehe Anyways, for those whom read my novel. Thanks lol Thanks for dropping in, take care:0)bonita

LOL, nice atmosphere here. That is one expensive breakfast, more than I have ever paid. BTW, you were the first to mention 'black' yesterday, though that wasn't the official color! ;']

This is a wonderful capture Bonita... Again so warm, quiet, welcoming.. A sublime novel to go with it, a joy to read it all.. I am so glad you had this breakfast here. Nothing wrong with dear Foggie being a sausage and egg man ;-) It is so strange.. If I am on holiday I can eat a huge breakfast, is different if all is set before you?? No dishes either ;-) I feel I have been on the trip with you both, though these wonderful shots.. Final thought.. "The Sugar Shake" in the style of the waterfall. Totally over the top.. but hey.. NICE :-) I write a book too. HUGS. Di.

OK, No offense and believe me I'm not a skinflint, but if I'm paying $60 for breakfast, they'd better be burying a gold nugget at the bottom of those apple delights! It looks elegant and very "homey" though. I bet it was great fun. :-) Nice shot and story.

$60 breakfast? Yikes!! But it is great fun to do something like that ONCE in your lifetime (haven't done it yet in mine, LOL)! This is an awesomely rich looking place, with REAL linens on the table, that should have been a tip off on cost right away, LOL!!
