Description

I just started today at trying Cake1's tutorial on creating a texture from a photo of a face. I noticed after the render that there's problems around the eyes and at the nose, but hey, it's my first try! Thought I'd share. She's Vic2 witha little Asia morph thrown in. Hair is Gypsy hair by Hmann, and lights are from the Sisters Pack by Dalinise and Stormi. Thanks for viewing!

This looks excellent. I would recommend downloading the demo version (30 day fully functional) of Deep Paint 3D and paint a blank textured head to map the boundaries. The map is then compared to your photo texture for fine ajdusting. This looks really promising, very organic.

this looks great. i love the subtle freckles, and the varying natural skin tones of the face. the lips are also very nice. some tips, if i may: change the focal length of the main camera to a higher setting, i recommend 80-90mm. adjust the shadow map size for your lights to a larger number (try 768-1024), and dial down the shadow dial to about .4 or .6 to get softer shadows. those black mottled shadows under her hairline are a result of the shadowmap being too low resolution, and the shadow setting being too intense. if you smooth this out itll give it more realistic shadows, and changing the camera focal length will minimise the lens distortion on the face. also try rendering at a higher resolution than you intend to post (i generally render at double the resolution), that way before you size down the image for posting you can hit the 'sharpen' filter in photoshop or any other image editor and when the image is reduced you will end up with a very crisp, realistic render. the texture itself is great, except for one small thing: there are some texture misalignment problems around the tip of the nose and nostrils. i find that when texturing around the nose its best to take out all the dark shadows on the map and let the contours of the nose of the mesh give it form rather than details on the map. use photoshop's clone tool and a soft brush to smoothe out the nose a bit on your texture. plz dont take this as nitpicking, just trying to help you perfect your texture - i really like it. cheers, -gabriel
