Description
A short distance to our right was a cliff, huge slab of rock, which extended up and forward as far as the light could illuminate. It was not solid however, for the thundering noise was caused by water which poured out of a giant crevasse which sliced the slab horizontally. The water tumbled a short distance and then formed a broad rushing river which flowed away to our left.
We were standing on a rocky bank at the source of the underground river. Behind us was the tunnel we had exited and stone walls which formed the structure through which we had been wandering. To our right the bank was blocked by the stone cliff intersecting with the stone walls. To our left the bank gradually narrowed until it was barely wide enough for a snail as the stone walls in which the tunnel like maze was located and the river came together.
