Description

This little creature (very small) I found on the road, when walking through Austria in the week before. I have no idea what it is, although me and my parents had ideas of sick ladybirds, blushing beetles and what not... I've put two pictures together to give a bit of a better look Edit: It seems to be a Red Velvet Mite (thanks Girsempa for the research) Problem solved UnanyMouse

I've never seen ticks with this body shape... I did some web searching and found this: http://www.britannica.com/eb/art-6605?articleTypeId=1 It looks very similar to a Red Velvet Mite (arachnida or spider class, so the 8 legs could be right)...

Very nice, the resemblance is scary. You are right about the eight legs, after a closer examination of the pictures it really is an eight legged freak! So, a red velvet mite... not bad. It looks a little hairy on the link, if only I took it with me :-) Thanks a lot for the research and answers UnanyMouse
