Description

This image just happened. I had some free (few) minutes to work in another, more complex project, and I was building this island for it. I made a test render and I liked it. This is probably my simplest image to date. Even the atmosphere is simple. Even the render settings are simple and not as high as i usually use. Maybe too simple and not what the people expect from me... Anyway... The scene where this island will be used should be ready in 2 or 3 days, although just 2 or 3 hours of work ("real life" doesnt give me much time...). I thought about putting a character on the beach, as if stranded. I decided not to do it, to enhance the mistery and create questions in the minds of people ("where is the guy? what's his story?"). Thanks for watching! Have to rush now for "real life" appointments, sorry for the overdue comments! This is a direct render, no postwork (no time for it!) EDIT: Some technical stuff: --------------------------- Water is a procedural terrain. The waves are really geometry, created with "chipped" noise (Vue has a specific noise node for "ocean" but I think it's less realistic than what I do). The water is just Vue's default water (with higher transparency decay than standard), without bump map. For the foam i didn't have time for anything fancy so I just duplicated the terrain, shrank it vertically, adjusted it to the water level, applied a foam texture and presto! Same for the foams in the rocks. The rocks are just some standard terrains, textured with a mixture of rock and grass (mixture is made with a standard Vue fractal function). If anyone wants some specific texture or even the chipped noise parameters, I'm happy to give it.

I can see why you decide to save this one! Great unintentional art! Damned if it looks just like a photo! Great work, though that boat needs a tie-down because it's floating off!

Just came in from a very hard day and wanted to leap through the monitor. Great image! Sometimes simple is best.

Very good effects from sunlight on water, looks very realistic. The foam is a bit much, this looks like a very calm sea. The boat rides a little high in the water IMO. The atmosphere hazes up perfectly in the distance. All in all, a very good image!

No post work needed. Great image. You could go with a more dramatic sky, but unnecessary.

Very alluring! Sea all around, a lush island right in the middle of the sea, what else does one need?

Very good render for such a "simple" image. Quality still shines through

Great work, as always. Is that water just a plane or did you do a terrain for the waves? It looks great. Also the shoreline and the rocks looks very realistic, theres where most water pictures tend to fall. Keep it up, your talent is rare.

I feel a kind of philosophy in the picture.

Wow. I appreciate your notes on how you created the image -- I've been thinking about getting vue, and this gives me some ideas of how to work it.

I like this a lot. Love the sun reflecting on the water and the mystery behind the boat and what seems like a small deserted island.

Gee, I thought it was a photo! Great work on the water in particular - it looks sensational! When a render looks this good just through using simple settings, why spend time adjusting them? Very tropical!

"Simple" does not mean "bad". Actually in real life the most beautiful pictures often are the simplest. This image conveys a lot of emotions to me: peace, desire for adventures, and curiosity about the small boat and its occupant. So on second thought it's not simple at all! Great job, Artur!

i leave you alone for 2 seconds and you get all professional on me. your stuff lately has skyrocketed into professional art that people get paid for. when did this happen? did you get a new Sensei? are you studying with Mr. Miyagi? either way this stuff is above the bar! and i learn so much. about water and stuff cuz you're all the time explaining in detail how you make these effects so thanks for that.

Wow, stunning realism - I am getting more & more envious of you & your skills with this programme, the more piccies I see LOL. Excellent.

Not every book has to be War and Peace. Not every song has to be an opera. In this case simple is good, and worked out very nicely and convincingly. The little boat is a nice touch, no complaints here. Nice little image.
