Description

This is test render of the Leman Russ Battle Tank model by Jack Tomalin (aka Ozzfest). It is an exceptional model. The Soldier is posed for concept of scale. The problem is that I have always been used to seeing the gaming models of these tanks with infantry that are nowhere near anatomically correct. That considered, I figured the scale between the tank and the Soldier as shown is "realistic" and still has the effect of allowing the tank to appear as the behemoth it should be.

That looks like one hell of a mean tank. Great idea, and cool fantasy post :-)

Great model and scene, I would have said from most of the 40k art I've seen and the real life tanks that I've worked with (Challengers 1 and 2) that the figure is still a little large compared to the tank.

Additonal note on scale: I've spent most of my military career working in armor, mechanized infantry, and self-propelled artillery units. I've also spent most of that time playing Warhammer 40K. For this picture, I started the soldier to tank scale based on the size of the tank hatches. Going with that idea, the tank would be too big as it is presented here. However, the gaming miniatures suggest that the tank should be large enough for the sponson weapons to shoot over infantry that are standing upright. Therefore, I decided to comprimise and take the notion that an anatomically correct human would be taller than a 40k infantry model while having a very spacious turret hatch at the same time. That said, I think I'll make the tank a bit bigger next time...

I think the scale is just fine. My military history has been around these veh and the last 5 years as a scout... the scale works and thiks is a cool render, I was wondering if you could show me the veh w/o all the shadow

Like priest01 I'd love to see this vehicle without the shadow. First time I've seen this model. Really interesting work.
