Description
I had a blast making this and it was my first real effort of trying to model a car, i learned so much about c4d and made a zillion mistakes along the way, its far from finished and far from being perfect as i wanted to include a scenery with the car and put a bit more effort in getting the textures right, but time and a reallife restauration of an Oldtimer i own made it impossible for me to finish it in my sparetime. (hopefully one day)
I decided although not finished i would publish it for you all, as i thought it is shame to leave it in my unfinished folder, i think it's rare that you see a car model here at renderosity without the fine paintjobs and shining chrome, time has catched in on this one, credits for the idea about a worn out paintjob belong to Becco_UK
I hope you enjoy this illustration, models and textures were done with C4D R10 (basic version) and Bodypaint. Rendering at 1024x768 took 24 minutes on a Mac G5 1.8 Ghz
Enjoy

hi, I agree fully, the true artist 3d is what it does not retouch its work in one million of programs, becoming the original in plus one illustration, congratulations!

Where I come from It's called a Chevy Nova...one thing I could never figure out is why the same car is named differently in other countries. Anyway, awsome job it is easily identified looks great.

Vector thats funny i couldn't figure it out why manufactures call cars diffrent in other countries, i had a Nissan Sunny once and a friend of mine in NZ has the same car which is called Nissan Pulsar, same with Opel and Vauxhall (same car diffrent name) Anyway thanks for all the comments!

The Chevrolet Opala was an Opel Rekord-based car made in Brazil by Chevrolet. Its front borrowed heavily from the contemporary American Nova. I did a few Opala 3d models, all shining, glistening textured (-:. The whitewall tire may have been thrown in for contrast but i think the composition would be better off withou it. Godd job.
