upon the barren ground
a futile offering of remorse
and empty promise
left upon the altar
of long lost intent
the final reckoning
of an empty soul
struggling to find
an internal compromise
pride and predjudice full
arguing for limitations
until you stumble
falter and fall
unable to stand again
in all revealing light
