Description
In keeping with my Dr. Suess theme this week, I thought that I would draw upon one of my favorite childhood parables: "The Lorax". It may seem grimly ironic that this cautionary tale warning about the dangers of industrialization and environmental neglect seems even more relevant today than when it was first published over thirty years ago. Anyone who has read this story however, knows that it ends on a hopeful note when a young boy is given the last truffula seed to plant, to nurture and to grow into the sort of bountiful tree from whence it came. Although we never get to see the tree that eventually springs from his gift, or the forest that he eventually re-populates with it, I'd like to think that the lad succeeded in making a difference. Hey - maybe it's not even too late for the rest of us?
