Description

The ground where we stand is pretty solid and safe. Same as the far end but note thru the cracks, there is lava. If this area was next or in the forest line, it could become dangerous. "METHANE GAS EXPLOSIONS " would be our concern. When the methane ignites, the ground explodes and I heard it during one of our hikes next to the forest line. But for now, we just have to worry about our friends playing with the lava. Aloha and thank you for viewing.

And now I've learned that the gas is a problem even after the volcano erupts. I always thought it was the escape of gas from the volcano that was a danger and not from the lava after it started flowing.

Underground explosions occur in front of lava flowing over burning vegetation. Plants burn without oxygen as they are covered by lava, creating methane gas. The gas fills underground lava tubes. When the methane ignites, the ground explodes up to 100 yards/meters in front of the advancing lava flow. Rocks and debris blast in all directions.

With this POV and textural effects, it kinda looks like a vast, gray, quilted cover, if you squint a wee bit. Wonderful capture, as always, of your beloved lava flows.
