Born in Hilo, Hawaii and class of '66, I became very active in Barbells, Judo and love striking the heavy/speed bag. I've learned to Rollerblade and bike ride which is a very health sport. But time doesn't stop for anyone including for me. So my good friend Dave aka punaguy got me started in taking pictures. I'm having fun taking pictures especially hiking the mountains. I'm enjoying seeing the world thru your post on Renderosity. Mahalo and Aloha....Errol

Intriguing darkness and richness. Looks to me like one just moved to the surface of the moon and figured out how to make fire. Excellent

Looks like another hot time in the ole town tonight. Hehehehe, boy, you guys never cease to amaze me. Aloha

The heat that seems to be generated from the larva is most intersting. Certainly great care needs to be taken. Thank you for sharing. egmont

Seeing this long stick dug into the lava make me sit on the edge of my chair. I like you captured his hand too as he holding a stick!

Great capture of the fire. I particularly like the darkness in this one, it focuses the eyes more on the lava and flames. xx

I like the flames too! This looks like a blast furnace glow~ Glad you all made it back safe... you get mighty close to the source~!

Actually, I like it a bit darker. It is more dramatic and you can see the molten details even better. Nice work Errol!

You always on the edge... impressive !

Goodness, it looks like a nighttime capture of the beginning of a brush fire up in the hills of Southern California. Fine shot, aperature controls notwithstanding.
prionbrain

pennykay
Superb capture!

I think the exposure works here - too much and you would loose the wonderful detailing in the flames - the limited dynamic range of film and digital can be both a blessing and a curse. I love your lava shots!
