Description

Last weekend's hiking trail had several viewpoints where we could look out into the Columbia River Gorge. This view is looking east from about a mile east of Multnomah Falls. What looks like a road on the right side is really the Union Pacific Railroad tracks, and off to the left is the river. Interstate 84 also follows the river through the gorge, making three different sea-level routes across the Cascade Range. An incredible amount of commerce flows past this spot, including about a third of all the wheat exported from the U.S. Thanks for stopping by and any comments.

Fantastic lights and shadows... very striking! The flat lighting in the foreground creates a mood that the hazy mountains in the distance maintain. Great shot!
