There is a certain simplicity to this that appeals to me. When I saw it, for some reason I can't express, I instantly thought of the Phantom Zone "album cover" prison from the Superman movies (that was recently seen used in the "Smallville" TV series). In fact, the more I look at it, the more it looks like something that would have been at home on an album cover from the 1970s. As you said, not a lot to it, but I like it.
