Description
Hi all, a bit of a newbie here, comments very much appreciated including critique, help stuff tho please :)
The title comes from a line sung by Johnny Cash in 'Hurt' off his final album, something about it sends a shiver down my spine! (original song by nirvana i think)
It helps if you sing the line in your head while you look at it, if you don't know it, well go and get it!
Cheers

Nice work

It's a very good start. A few things I noticed, a little nostril glow going on (if you search on BagginsBill in the Poser forum I believe he had a recent tutorial thread on getting rid of nostril glow), and I think the camera should be pulled back just a tad. He seems a little too close. BTW - Hurt by Nine Inch Nails.

Thanx all for the encouragement. Kalon, extra thanx for the nostril tip, as soon as i read that i could see exactly what you mean, and will check out the tutorial. You are also correct about the Nine Inch Nails (oops) but it DID begin with an 'n'! Not too sure if i agree with pulling the camera back, will try it but I suspect I will prefer it where it is, although I appreciate that may well be breaking some rule of art that I'm not aware of! Having had a few looks at it, I think that given the other side of the picture is so bright in comparison, the face itself may lose impact if reduced further in size..... somehow it just 'feels' right to me, tho that may be a fathers love of his new born :) hmmmmmm............ Once more, thank you for comments

cool image!!

Thing to remember is that what you like in an image, I may not. So there are things like the nose glow thingie that are valid .. but the head shot may work for you, being up close, where it would not for someone else. You'll see differences of opinion often in postings on people's work. I took a photo down once, because someone felt there was not enough sky line, too much sky. Should have left it because I liked it. So there you are. Take the technical advice, and you be your own artistic advisor. Very cool second render!!

I like it...nice lighting and shadows, the monochromatics with a touch of color really pull your eyes to the subject. Dito the nose glow, easy enough to photoshop it gone. The closeness of the subject looks good to me...isolates the forlorn expresion, I might put a touch more sky above him to unbalance the horizontal composition, and or move the horizon line away/below the eyes, but YMMV.
