Then there's Dune with 'Thou shalt make any machine in the likeness of a living being' or something like that, as a result of the Butlerian jihad. Interesting that Genetic algorithms have already resulted in a computer creating a 'pure tone audio generator' circuit better than any human ever has. We do not understand how it works, but neither does the computer, it just threw tera-cycles of processor at the problem it was programmed to solve. It is estimated that in about 20 years, machines will have more mental capacity than a human brain, but learning processes may still take a bit to evolve. Once they do however, the rate of development will be astonishing. Great piece of art, as it stimulates thought.
