I like the conceptual quality of this image. The juxtaposition of that which may not be considered beautiful with that which might be more readily cosidered so. It is as if one side is gritty, raw and "of the street" drawing attention to itself though a passer-by might prefer to look away and the other side seems organically beautiful. However, the figures give me pause. On the left side, amid that which is raw, the figure seems accepting and wise. The posture is open and vulnerable, the hand gesture seems Buddha-like, perhaps wise and therefore possibly indicating a lack of fear of the Knowing. The figure on the right is closed and hidden to herself and others. She doesn't give up herself and leaves the impression of beauty... but is that beauty when denying part of the Self? Denying who we are? Or just safe and acceptable for the sake of being accepted and safe? I enjoy this image. Thanks for sharing.

i'm still out here, just doing some life stuff that has pulled me away from being productive or feeling all too inspired. HappyDance and I bought reference materials today to kick me into gear though, so we'll see.
