Description

Every night more than 1 million children in America face the dark with no place to call home. They are hungry, anxious and often exposed to violence. They shuttle between shelters and fall behind in school. (That is, where there are shelters with empty beds. WFI Editor) They are the vulnerable new face of the America homeless. Experts say that there are more homeless children in America than at any time since the Great Depression. About 40% of America's homeless are now women and their children - the fastest growing homeless group. (Women and children have been the fastest growing group of homeless for most of the 1990s. But when the Democrats won back the White House, it became less fashionable for the media to run news items on the homeless crisis. WFI Editor)(http://www.worldfreeinternet.net/news/nws175.htm) Reality Call: Many homeless victims are not drug addicts or worthless lazy people that won't work. They are victims of society. Lost jobs due to companies moving overseas. Low employment in a city. A fire, hurricane, simply nature's forces, and domestic violence. There are so many reasons. Yet as we the people of America sit back in our homes with a cup of coffee or tea. We remain blind, it's better to pretend the world is not so harsh. We like to pretend instead of acknowledge. We throw judgements out easy because we have yet to be in the situation. Little Lisa could be our daughters, sons, family, or loved ones. Isn't it time for America to wake up and see home needs tending badly? We as a nation can correct this slowly. Assure our children's future. If it isn't our problem then whose is it? Or we can simply pretend that this problem, one of many, doesn't exist or is our problem. Next time you crawl into a warm bed, remember out there is a Little Lisa that has no where to crawl or the warmth and protection all our children deserve. Our nation is going to hell. Our children's future bleek. We vote. We can stand up and point fingers at those who can change this and other problems. Or we can simply play at being clueless and that things wont change. Every child has dreams, none dream of not eatting or having a place to sleep.
