I'm just a guy...
just an ordinary guy.
BIO
I live west of Philadelphia in the suburbs. I make Poser art for the enjoyment of it. It's relaxing and entertaining, and a fun way to express oneself or let out a few demons. Over the years I've worked in traditional mediums; mostly pastel and watercolor. I've found myself attracted to CG though and have dabbled in it for quite a while. I do enjoy classical art, surrealism, and art nouveau. Like many here, I've been influenced by fantasy and scifi...I'll try not to flood the galleries with naked Vicki's in temples, with swords *GRIN*.

You have an amazing way of achieving strong emotional impact in a very understated image. I like the colorful cloth which are in such sharp contrast to the 'background'. The lamp(?) post being so close to the edge adds another element of tension and worry. (And if indeed there is a lamp on the top of the pole, perhaps a glimmer of hope?)

As I said in my comment on "Rose...", I feel some link between both images. It may be in the composition: some platform, a cliff, some mass, some sky. Here no transparent face, but tangible reminders. I love the texture of the wood, and the little nails sticking out. I love the water and the sky. I don't feel the power or sadness others have mentioned. The title suggests suicide, but to me the picture doesn't (matter of opinion!). I would jump with my shoes and whatever other clothes on. Moreover, this pier looks so frail, which makes me think of the water as rather shallow and very still. (I have waters of various dimensions at hand and in my memory.) One might break one's neck "at best" by jumping here. Nothing more tragic than a failed suicide attempt, I think (matter of opinion, or rather attitude towards life). That would be the power and sadness that I could feel here.

Wow, very powerful and sad piece. I get the suicide message regardless of arguments against it. And that is the sign of great art, that there can be such different opinions.
