Description

This is the Bell Tower of Ninna-Ji Temple in Kyoto. The Ninna-Ji Temple was founded in 888 by Emperor Uda, turning former palace grounds into a new temple for a buddhist sect. He lived in this temple for his remaining 30 years as the temple's head priest. Most buildings were destroyed over the time, mostly by fires. This Bell Tower is located within the northern half, where most of the few surviving builds can be found.

Good shot - too bad that the corners of the roof didn't make it in the picture! But a good one anyway - and valuable info on top of it!
