Description
The current house this time. In the daylight basement. The ceiling was origionally two feet lower than now - previous owners had elected to bring the ceiling height to the lowest point of plumbing, ducting, etc. We felt the fireplace needed to have the right side cut off to make way for a more balanced set of built-in bookcases.
There is slate on the hearth, and yes, that's Dancing With the Stars playing on the TV over the fireplace. And if I knew what I was doing I would go back in there and take another picture with the spot lights shining on the bookcases dimmed a little but I am going to have a glass of wine instead. (I keep grouping the pictures on the mantle into two pleasing groups in each corner, and the nice lady that helps keep the house clean keeps spreading them out.)

This is quite a dramatic change! The "during" really shows off what-all you did to complete this little task! I love the slate work you did around the fireplace. Beautiful!
