Description

Captured 5/3/07, in the Pavilion of Wings, located on the lovely premises of the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, which, incidentally, is adjacent to the University of Southern California and the LA Coliseum. My main objective on this trip was to snap butterflies, but, always on the alert for targets of opportunity (I love military parlance), I couldn't pass up this beauty, so, putting my new Pentax SLR to the test, I caught this one in all its glory. Sorry about the half shade-half light effect, but the leaf was too high off the ground for me to manipulate, plus the pavilion personnel were eyeing me suspiciously anyway. Thanks for coming by, and your kind and uncritical comments are always welcome.

Well, I have no idea what this is (a flower... yes!!) but I do know that it is beautiful. I actually love the way it is half in shadow, it adds depth and character. The DOF is fantastic and the delicate textures on the petals and wonderful. You certainly have an eye for beauty. Excellent capture my friend. xx

LOL it is definately NOT a Hydrangea, although I can't say for certain exactly what it is. But that's no matter. I think it's great. I love the light in this, and the white part of the flower looks so beautiful. Well done, GOB!

With butterflies MIA (military parlance) this aquired target made a great substitute. Operation flower capture is a success! A real CO among noncoms.

It's very beautiful, and the stamen is QUITE festive! I like a flower shot with some shade and some sun (this is absolutely personal preference!), because it gives me an opportunity to notice different things about the flower's texture and color. This is a wonderful capture! (I would imagine "capture" could be military parlance, or just the standard photography term.)
