My Child is Gone
My Child is gone, Kat who walked so close to the earth. She who lived, all but a few years in our country home. My child who loved all natures wonders.
She tried to fit into the cities of this world. Like shoes that are too big.
She always came home broken hearted, and in need of the country to heal her tender wounded soul.
One day with spirit, she tried again to live in a city. But the noise, people talking too fast, the indifference of the city. Kat became ill and would not come home. Because of a simple word, independence.
Without the many birds, cats, open fields, woods. The flowers, gardens and trees her Father planted, were not there for her eyes to see. The smells of the country life, a far away memory.
Her life had become Doctors appointments, medications and trips to the hospital. Even then that word independence was the only thing she could see.
My child so close to the earth, died in that city, so far away.
Her ashes now buried in the land, where her father planted a tree in her memory. My child is now part of the earth, she once walked with love,
That city took away my child. Now I am wounded and broken hearted. With only the wind blowing over the land to hear my grief.
