Description

Thanks for your suggestions in the first version of this image ("Flying with Friends"). With your hints, I changed water, pose, POV, lighting, cloth bump and eagles bump. I also added DOF to the BG (very slight, just 1.7 pixels). There was another critique that the eagles poses were all equal but that wasnt true, it just seemed that way because of the POV. I didnt change the eagles poses but with this POV it becomes clear that they are different. I also enhanced the eagles motion blur (it was already there in the 1st version, just too subtle). Notice that the blur exists only on the wings, as these are moving faster than all the rest. I also removed the clouds, because she's flying at very low altitude (you see that from the house) and it's not very realistic to see clouds that close to the ground and that detailed on such a sunny day. I also thought the clouds distracted a bit from the main action. Thanks for watching! EDIT: how i made the cloth -------------------------- - Created a 64k plane in another app and imported it as an obj to Poser. - Placed the plane, in frame zero, just below the character (which was previously posed exactly as i wanted). For exact plane positioning, it's better to go to top view in poser. - Went into the cloth room and created a sim with 30 frames. Cloth collision options check "object vertex against cloth polygon" and "cloth self collision". Drape frames zero. - "Clothified" the plane, collide against all parts of the character and clothes, except hair. Collision depth: 0.5 - fold resistance and shear resistance at 3. Stretch resistance at 40. Rest by default. - Made one choreographed group of just a few polygons on the four corners of the cloth. - Went to frame 30 and, with parameter dials, moved in y axis the choreographed group (and, with it, the entire plane) until it was above the character. - Went to frame 1 again and ran the simulation. The choreographed group went up but the rest of the plane "collided" against the character and stayed behind. - For the image i used frame 30. - In vue i used "dark white" as color for the cloth and applied a normal bump map, from a picture of a real cloth. This was my 2nd attempt ever at the cloth room. Fun room. EDIT: Changed her head pose a little bit, after the comments of pjz99 and Bantha that she looked afraid now. They were right, thanks! I hope she looks happier now. :-)

Only one thing could make it better--her gripping onto the sheet, because she looks like she's about to fall out! LOL! This one gives a REAL sense of altitude to me! Whoa! DIZZY! Very VERY cool and improved! Great work!

Much improved :) She looks like she's having a great time now! Still a truly excellent use of dynamic cloth also, very well done.

This is really great! Excellent sense of joy from this. Realistic or not, I liked the clouds in the previous version. This is still fantastic though! Well done!

This was and still is a great image. I like the POV with respect to the eagles and the house better now, but preferred her in the previous view - easier to see her joy. I miss the clouds too.

This is much better than the first in my eyes! I like especially the idea of placing the whole scene over woodlands rather than over a street. Nice expression on the girl's face, she looks as if she is enjoying herself very much.

I think this version is much better, it feels more alive and in the action. Great work :)

Fantastic! The sharply focused BG never bothered me personally, but overall the changes you've made are a huge improvement. Excellent work on the cloth; I think you've inspired a few people to go play in the cloth room!
