Description

Is this a train ? Is this a car ? Is this a bus ? Oooops ! We can see it can drive on tracks like a train and drive on the street as whell ! The upper vehicle is a trackbus (railbus). My father has made his apprenticeship in a repair station (Ausbesserungswerk) from the german 'Deutsche Bundesbahn', as he was 18 years old. His grandpa has worked a lifelong for the 'Bahn', with trains and as a rail deployer. In the time of the steam locomotives.

A well- done snapshot of a very special vehicle. Looks good! These busses were used in western germany after world war II on side tracks, because we had not enough locomotives. In the middle of the 50ies they were step by step replaced by "real" railbusses, powered by lorry - engines. the new ones were railbusses in double and triple traction, too. The german railroad had a lot of normal busses, too, running in the country. This bus from the picture exists as model fore model-railroading, too. The small foto above shows a very special and rare unit, too. Its a small railbus with engines at every side, so it could drive in two directions. In peoples mouth they called it "pigs nose" (Schweine - Schnauze). Its official construction term was "Wismar", and it run on side tracks for a private railroad company. Only a few of these units were build in the early 20th century, so we can see a very rare museum pearl today. It is rebuild a a railroad - model, too.

It's amazing how human enginuity can invent the strangest things in times of need. I think given time we can over come any problem the universe can throw at us. The picture is great and the history lesson is really cool too thanks for sharing.

Ist ca. 26 Jahre her.
