Description
Unlike the rest of my gallery this is an actual photograph. It shows the old mill in my home town of Winchester in Hampshire, England and was taken in early May 2007.
Visitors can see the machinery working (fascinating) and the flour produced is sold in the adjoining shop.
There's been a mill on the site for over 1,000 years, but the old building fell into disuse and became derelict and the present one is a rebuild dating from 1743.

Nice shot and an old-fashioned atmosphere! This is a millsplace for about 1000 years? I love those old places! A little bit to near at the river for my opinion, uhhh... Did they ever had floods? I thing, they had...

Hi Billcody - yes, they DO have floods and the floods often spread into the town centre - about 250 yards away - but we haven't had anything that bad for about four years now. The mill has to be by the river because it's the flow of water which turns the big wheel connected to the grinding stones.
