The location: This photograph was taken in the town cemetery of Bagdad, Florida, located in the Northwest Florida panhandle in the wetlands off the northern side of Blackwater Bay, not too far from Pensacola. Before the 1940's Bagdad was a world renowned boom town in the lumber industry, going back to the early 1800's. Bagdad played a pivotal roll in Florida from the Antebellum Age, through the Civil War, the Industrial Age and all the way to the beginning of World War II. At one time the mill town was one of the largest economic establishments in the State of Florida. But in 1939 they cut down the last original virgin tree (giant pines), and whoops, they had forgotten to plant any more! Instant economic collapse. Hard to believe but quite true. So after that, time stood still for the tiny Bagdad community. But today, such a lack of economic foresight resulted in a well preserved, quaint little southern town. And the old cemetery there, with all due respect, is a perfect place to shoot a young "Goth Girl". Which is what I did there yesterday. I was pleased with our session and I'll probably post a few more. I hope the "residents" there didn't object too much. Thanks for taking a look. Hope you like. marshall
