"EL TERO" It is of medium size, with thin and long paws, their eyes are red the same as their pick. Their presence is typical in the vicinities of lagoons, lakes, rivers, streams. They can see it in all the places where it exists humid earth and grass. Their presence stands out in all the environments patagicos. In the solitudes of the western forests or in the next pasture areas to the sea. But they can also see it inside of same of the cities, even in the squares. He/she prefers the open fields to have a better visibility. Seeing the images will realize that it is very elegant, with their contrasting plumage between the target and the black one. It also decks out it a fine and coquettish crest back. It is very comic, because when he/she walks or it is still, he/she makes "stooping" classic still without explanation. Their wings are provided of a combat spur and in their superior part they possess a strong red ram. You will see it alone, in couple or in flocks. When they are alarmed, they lift flight emitting very strident screams: tero-tero-tero! The tero feeds of insects, raw meat, vegetables, etc. is the man's ally in the control of agricultural plagues. It is usually tamed it to him in the gardens and vegetable gardens of the houses, being in fact their task the control of the plagues It is very astute towards the care of their nest, because before the presence of an intruder you made in another place as if it was sitting, but in another side; so that the visitor goes toward him. In some occasions he/she makes short flights moving away from their nest with the appearance of not being able to fly well, as if it was wounded; repeating it more and more far several times until it passes the danger. Many times he/she makes flights in having itched on the intruder, even touching it with their exposed rams. As guardian it is unbeatable and until in an excessive way. It is always attentive. Before the smallest movement it begins with their screams. In any event we could suppose that it is the one in charge of waking up the guardian dog so that it acts before an abnormal situation... ;o) Pardon if something not this well written one. It is a common and widespread resident throughout South America, except in the jungles of the Amazon and the Andes."
