Description

Poser -> Zbrush -> Vue -> Photoshop Thanks for watching! EDIT: technical details ----------------------- The metal "skin" is real geometry around her body. There's no displacement maps or bump maps of any sort. Here's how i did it; - Posed the model in poser, no clothes - Exported it as obj to Zbrush - In Zbrush, i masked the area that i wanted to rip. I used standard brush 22. - In the sub-tool menu, i extracted that portion (thick 0.0022). That would be the piece she's holding. - Inverted the mask and extracted again, to another subtool. That would be the entire suit. - Exported both subtools as obj to Vue and just placed the entire suit exactly aligned with the naked Poser model and the small piece in her hand. - Textured the suit and piece as brushed silver. - The lighting model in Vue is "environmental mapping" with the standard Vue image - I exported the final render as Z-depth into Photoshop and used it as an alpha channel for the Lens blur filter to get that DOF on the BG. That's it! Pretty simple!

I'm in awe! This is one of the more astounding renders, I've ever seen! It's very realistic, and fantastic in it's imagination distilled from dreams. This evokes Science fiction and fantasy magazine covers from the early day of the art, combined with the whimsy of Salvidor Dali. You inspire me to greater efforts, sir! ^__^ V,,

Thanks for the kind comments! @Trepz, what you call silly, i call the extreme discomfort of showing one's emotions for the first time, which is the theme of this image. Yes, that discomfort may give you a somewhat silly look but still, in my opinion, it's better to take that risk and show our emotions...

Very unique Artur, and I like the SciFi style much!! I only had done a bit more light on her face, but you know my images ;-)

When the image is created with such skill, and the message is so strong - any possible comments on details feel superfluous. I agree "better to take that risk and show our emotions...". What makes it even riskier and us more vulnerable - now that the mask is off, it won;t fit back on - the 'jigsaw' contours are no longer the same! Really moving piece.

Greatly done. Creative, with so much expression. The only thing I would suggest - maybe she could look into the camera? The picture has something personal, I find it strange that she looks up. But don't get me wrong, this is truly an amazing piece of art.

This is really good stuff, Artur. Top drawer stuff. Good use of DOF to draw attention to the focal point. Well done!

Really slick and impressive. Some info on technique would be very welcome in the notes. I'm guessing you've got two separate figures there, and actually cut the mesh of one to move the part of the mask. The appearance of thickness to the material is really slick (displacement I suppose?). Very very skillful, beautiful work and a keen insightful theme.
