Hey, gonzo-cool! I recognize that ringed planet :-) But it's an excellent use of it. Your camera angle and composition scream "drama" and "tension". The lighting on the planet and ships seem different, but who cares - it's such a striking image. Great job - one of your best.

Thanks, ARCAS! Ya know I've got a weak spot for "Trek", especially with the remastered original episodes coming out now. As for the lighting-all the light on the ships is primarily the backlight, which I tried to justify as coming from the nebula they're in. The key light (Sun) actually is hitting the ships, but you see it almost entirely as edgelighting. Likewise, the backlight is hitting the planet and rings, its just dark compared to the sunlight. Oh, well, as you say, its dramatic, anyway. -t

A long time ago Silicon Graphics shipped its computers with a flight simulator installed. The virtual fleet comprised the usual jets; commercial and fighter as well as some airplanes. And then one day it came with the D-7. Boy, could that baby move! It could out-climb anything!! So, fast you could reach the edge of virtual reality under a minute and cause the program to crash. Great shot, would love to see more. Hope you put the "looks good at any angle" idea to the test. How about a giant battle scene?
