Description
Taken last week near Perdido Key, Florida. This area was absolutely devastated by Hurricane Ivan in 2004, and then got kicked again by Hurricane Katrina the following year. Yes, Katrina DID do massive damage outside of New Orleans, although our drive-by news media somehow missed all of that.
I'm pretty sure that this observation tower fell in Ivan and had to be rebuilt. A lot of progress has been accomplished, but I've known this area for over 30 years and as wonderful a place as it still is, often many sections today are just a shadow as compared to before being subjected to the above mentioned storms.
That long white line on the horizon is a thin barrier Island, and on the other side is the Gulf of Mexico.
I no longer reside there, however I plan to return again sometime later this summer.

Looking how wonderful this place looks it's a shame it gets hit by hurricanes. I love how your eye travels around this lovely scene. Great shot.
