Peeling Bark - IR by TwoPynts

"Propose to an Englishman any principle, or any instrument, however admirable, and you will observe that the whole effort of the English mind is directed to find a difficulty, a defect, or an impossibility in it. If you speak to him of a machine for peeling a potato, he will pronounce it impossible; if you peel a potato with it before his eyes, he will declare it useless, because it will not slice a pineapple." ~ Charles Babbage
An odd quote but I found it rather humorous. :) This infrared photo really captures the detail of the bark, while the newer wood beneath is almost too bright. ------

What a fascinating image. It's almost hard to tell what is peeling away and what is new. I really like this Kort. It's such a wonderful texture abstract. You always bring such interesting and unusual things to the 'table'. Have a great day!-M :^)

This is marvelous...instead of a peek-a-boo type shot, these are on top and boldly stand out. Love this reverse affect... reverse of what the eye expects to see that is. Wonderful.

A great shot and I love the textures. The lighter part underneath reminds me of the inside of a fresh coconut!! Bravo!

Infrared or not, it looks exactly like the bark that is shed from our condo complex eucalyptus trees. The bark sheds in huge sections, leaving the trunk in pristine, shiny condition. Great lighting and texture effects in this clinical capture.

Kool contrasts of light and textures, almost like the Australian Gum trees (Eucalyptus) or Leopard trees, but ours look like this, even without the IR ! ~Cheers~ :o)
