Description
Acquoy is a tiny village in the middle of our country. It is famous for it's fruit and it's remarkable church (built 15th Century I think). The tower and the choir are seperated and that is weird. The tower is leaning over and not just a a little bit.. for that reason this tower is also known as the Dutch Pisa Tower. On top af the tower an enourmast flag mast is visible...I don't know why it has to be that big honestly.
In front of the tower, the small town hall is visible. I think it was built in the 17th Century.
Acquoy is located at the old turn of the river the Linge, which was diverted, so it nowadays lies at a dead-end U-formed side arm of the river. The town got its typical long stretched form, parallel to the river, because people used to build their houses on, or directly behind, the Linge dike.
The name Acquoy is mentioned in scripts dating back to 1311, but there is some uncertainty where the name arises from. Some say that the name is the Latin words

A facinating read and lovely ancient Church the classic Dutch Frontage looks well on the old place.. Yes that does ruin the appearance of the building it looks like some communication rig of some sort rather than a flag poles
