Description
Yet another kangaroo shot. This little lady allowed me to get quite close to her and when she finally hopped away it was more out of annoyance than fear--she only moved away about 10 metres and went back to munching grass. Her big boyfriend was nearby-- he put on quite a show for me but disappeared into the trees very quickly. These are eastern grey kangaroos from the central tablelands of New South Wales. The males tend to be much larger than the females and are quite imposing figures close-up. I find the males amusing--lots of threatening posturing when you go near them but they clear off much quicker than the females. Mind you, I'm not going to take my chances by trying to get too close-- the legs in kangaroos are enormously powerful and can do serious damage.

Love the indignant attitude here that you have captured. Wonderful shot! Oh, and as for kangaroo meat...I have had it. Its not bad although if given a choice between venison and roo, I'd take venison. The roo was built up as being such a wonderful dish but its just meat really. Nothing too special but not disgusting either. LOL

She is cute!!!! I wish we had them wild here in the US, but only in zoos. We do have a Llama named Freddy at the horse stables where I keep my horse. He had a friend named Eddie, who unfortunately stepped into a woodchuck hole and broke his leg. Freddy, however, thinks he is a horse now, and comes into the barn at night for his dinner with the horses, LOL.
