Description

Mission codename: Icefox Mission location: classified Mission date: classified Commanding officer: classified Official mission objective: to recover a navy balloon True mission objective: classified note: I recently got inspired to model my favorite submarine, the Andrew Jackson, a cold war nuclear sub. I thought it was going to be an easy 2 day job, at most. Turns out it took me nearly 3 weeks to do, as I went all out to make it as accurate as I could, and after many revisions I'm finally satisfied with it.

If you told us, you'd have to kill us, right? Simply amazing scene! You have really captured that arctic feel. Wonderful atmosphere, completely credible texturing combining to create a compelling image.

Love the sub and the ice fog, and yes, the broken ice is great too!

Sorry my friend, the scale is way out. The sub should be a lot bigger or the people smaller. Also, the diving planes should be vertical for coming up through ice. Like the idea though, good ice is murder to do. Have a look at my gallery, there's a nuclear sub on there that will give you some idea of scale. I am not knocking your work. I love a pic that tells a story.

Actually, the scale of this sub and the people is accurate to within 2% tolerance. I take my scales very seriously.

If she has just surfaced, the sailplanes should be in the vertical position, otherwise they would have been torn off when the boat broke through.

Another great image to bring back some memories. it is a great image even if the scale is off a little. I believe you catch more detail this way though. So are you an ex submariner yourself? again thanks for the memories the icecaps are breathtaking Dan.

Well, if I left the sailplanes upright, it would just look strange, and then 98% of the viewers would say 'that looks strange' .:)
