Description

This is something I did using Photoshop for a project I am working on. I wasn't sure where to put this because the other galleries didn't give me enough space for the full story but this gallery only allows a small picture. Well I decided the story was more important so here it is. I have an extremely high resolution version on my computer and will be putting up a better version on my website eventually but here you go for now. The following is from the Mythology of this place of Saraya. ----- The Rise and Fall of Saraya - The story of the Creation of a beautiful land and of its downfall due to the destructive power of Envy. - Ayamar saw a land that was so beautiful that he decided only those deserving of his blessing should be allowed to live in it. So one day he searched the whole universe trying to choose which ones he would bless. He would call them Araya, or the blessed ones, and their land he called Luna Araya, the land of the blessed ones. After he made his selections and put them in their places he set the land to drift across the Guca. A drift that would make sure the Gufa would always shine down onto the lands and give them long even days. More importantly a drift so that no other could see it long enough to truly discover it. He did this believing that if the others could find it and then return with more of the other unworthy ones the beauty of the land would surely be tainted. So as he watched his creation drifting across the Guca he realized this privilege was much higher that a blessing than he original intended so he began to call the ones that he had blessed Saraya. For many years the Saraya lived in a peaceful existence free from the outside influences of the rest of the worlds. But those times would not last forever as the very thing that was done to protect this land would eventually lead to its downfall. As Luna Saraya drifted across the Guca it eventually began to drift near other lands. However it wasnt the actions of the outsiders that lead to the destruction of the lands, as Ayamar had once believed. At least not in the beginning. As their land drifted by other lands many of the Saraya would take notice of those they passed and for the most part they all agreed that their land was in no doubt the most beautiful of all. However there were occasions when one of them would observe something not of Luna Saraya that looked as if it were more than beautiful enough to belong here, but believing that Ayamar must have reason for not giving the object to the Saraya they let it pass from their minds with little more thought. But it wasnt long until these things that they saw became things they thought they deserved, after all were they not the blessed ones, not these hairless Gulaya. Why should these yellow skinned creatures be entitled to a blessing that was not allowed to the Saraya? So as time went by and as they drifted to and from other lands some of the Saraya began to make plans as for how to acquire the great things they had seen. This desire was so consuming that they often neglected the things that they already had. Fruits that they had once loved hung rotting on the trees until some of the trees became diseased. One by one the disease spread from the orchards down to the flower gardens. But the damamge didnt stop once they began to acquire some of the things that they desired. Many of these turned out to be not as beautiful as it had appeared from their view and were just discarded and left to rot where they lay. Some of the things they carried back had worse consequences. Such as the invasive plants that destroyed beautiful fields or the creatures they thought would make lovely pets for their young ones. Of these creatures the ones that would become the Abhu are the most reviled. At first the creatures were kind and gentle, often even protective of the ones they entertained. The cost of this friendship however became more than the land could bare as the creatures began to eat more and more until they grew to nearly the size of the Saraya. When it was realized that if they didnt control their pets they would soon be nothing left for their children to eat they began to cut back on what they allowed their pets to eat. But the pets turned on them and became themselves the masters and with nothing left to regulate their eating they grew and grew until they had eaten nearly all the vegetation in the region creating what is now the area known as The Wastelands. Fearing that if they were released into inner Luna Saraya they would eat the entire land and grow larger than Ayamar himself, the Saraya created a Cala by digging a hole at the only known entrance to the Wasteland and opening it up to the Guca. Because the creatures feared the water the Saraya believed this would keep the feasting creatures from being released into the rest of the land. And so the creatures were left with only the growth in the Salt Marshes to eat, and since the weed only grew fast enough to sustain the creatures and not enough for them to expand in numbers they remained in the wastelands never challenging their former masters. After seeing what had become of his once beloved lands Ayamar was furiated. The once plentiful orchards lay in ruin, polluted with the foul stench of rotting fruit. Where once were stretches of flowering fields now lay swamp and marsh. But the greatest disappointment was the sight of his favorite gardens. The gardens that he so loved that he positioned them to so they would always catch the First Light of the day, had been devoured away leaving nothing but dry Gufa scorched dirt. As punishment he waited until land drifted into the middle of the Guca, far from any other lands. Then in one might heave he sent one of the flames from the sky, not the gufa but a Laefa or lesser flame (moon or comet), crashing into Luna Saraya stopping it and creating the Gucala and Gudul that form the great barrier that are now main landmarks of the Luna Saraya. Destroying most of the inhabitants and isolating them from one another with the barriers. (Jealousy/Envy only leads to distruction) -------
