Description

I looked in my bug book for this pretty little butterfly, but couldn't find it :( Hence the name. :) This is probably the prettiest butterfly I have ever gotten close enough to shoot. :) So, that part alone makes me happy. I wasn't sure how to present this; nothing really grabbed me ... and still not sure it does. But, I could postwork the thing to death and so much I'll start to hate it. LOL So here it is. Like it or not. lol Thanks for stopping by :) Shari

Grow an "HERB YARDEN" Shari! Particularly Parsley, Dill Weed, & FENNEL! I "raise" these guys by gathering freshly lain eggs by the Mother-Flutterby & slowly FOLLOWING her upon her DETERMINED course to lay a bazzzzzillion eggs as FAST as she possibly CAN! Here they're called "Swallowtails" - The MALES have a little extension droplet on their LONGEST outter lower wing edges. Hence the name "Swallowtails" ... I was actually cleaning up a shot of a newly hatched Swallowtail just the other day - I GOTTA finish them up for you now! I "raise" mine inside HUGE clear plastic containers - drilled with LOTSA air-holes & for drainage. They HATCH in a couple of DAYS as TEENSIE wee black/brown & stark ORANGE specs... & GROWWWWWW like CRAZY into pale chartreuse green with BRITE bands of White & Back & "dots" of striking yellow - Till they nearly burst & then chrsysallize themselves on twigs.
