Description
Captured 6/7/07, about 1.75 miles from my residence.
This block-long homey fence sits in front of Paddison Farms, an old landmark of this town, which covers an area of one city block in width and two blocks in length.
The fence that surrounds the lengthwise portion is of the chain link variety, and is covered about halfway down the street with clinging, climbing plants.
Paddison Farms features, among other things, a large flock of peacocks, whose loud screeching permeates the area for blocks. Even from a distance you can hear their raucous "meeeeowwwwwwwwwws." All this in a residential neighborhood. How can the neighbors stand the blood curdling din?
I walk by this place all the time and have never seen any humans on the vast premises, and the gates are always locked. It definitely projects a "keep out" ambiance. But I understand they occasionally do have guided tours by reservation only. Maybe someday I'll........
Have a glorious weekend, ya all!

What a fantastic perspective of such an amazing "little" fence (or not so little by the sounds of it!!). Now if I were you, I would definitely book my visit around the farms - perhaps you'll meet the Clampetts (oh, is memory serving me right there Harry?? And why was I suddenly reminded of The Beverly Hillbillies??) Wonderful capture my dear friend and your commentary, as always, is a delight to read. xx

Go on a tour already! :) I like the non-traditional perspective of this picket fence.

I would take the tour, too. But bring earplugs, lol. I had no idea peacocks, 'meow', lol. Did you know a female peacock is a peahen? And their babies...peachicks...lol. -M :^)

The little town I come from in Texas had a local peacock "farm". The property was vast and had a stone arch with iron gate at the entrance. I hear there was a stone mansion-type home further in and just on the rise overlooking the bayou. On a quiet summer's day you could hear the peacocks screams echoing off the bayou waters and traveling for at least the mile and a half to where I lived. oh, lovely picket fence by the way. You did a great job with it.
