Description

Dating back to the 11th century, Warwick Castle has a rich and colourful history. The first foundations of significance were laid by Ethelfleda, the daughter of Alfred the Great in 914. I will show you this ancient part of the castle another time it has now become a rather beautiful feature of the interior gardens.. At the Castle they have had a feature called Ghosts Alive and a host of activities such as firework displays, and they tell the tale of the supposed death of Sir Greville a noted poet. Indeed, some of the hosts go into quite a bit of detail about the legend, including the fact Greville was in London at the time of the murder. Despite the historical bias, much of the emphasis in Ghosts Alive is the fact the Ghost Tower is apparently still haunted by Greville, and his assailant Ralph Heywood. I hope I managed to convey a little of the spooky presence of the place here.. Thanks for taking time to look and any comments Full size recommended

I could have used more of this when I was a boy. I loved "Ivanhoe" and the green knight and the black knight. So much better to have a real castle to explore than a mere Marx toy with lithgraphed steel stone walls.
